El Centro Skate Rink

Formerly known as Pattison’s West, this iconic skating venue has been a cornerstone of the Pacific Northwest skating community for generations. The rink boasts a premium maple floor with curved boards, making it a preferred destination for both recreational and competitive skaters. Notable alumni include Olympic speed skaters JR Celski and Apolo Ohno, who trained here in their youth.

In late 2023, the rink was acquired by El Centro de la Raza (“The Center for People of All Races”), preserving this vital community space when the Pattison family retired. Now serving as the home base for ArtisticSkating.com’s comprehensive artistic skating programs, the rink has also become a welcoming haven for displaced skaters from Skateworld Tacoma, which closed in March 2024.

Through its partnership with El Centro Skate Rink, ArtisticSkating.com operates numerous seasonal programs throughout the week, working to fulfill its mission of inspiring and supporting the art and sport of artistic roller skating. The facility serves as a hub for both online and in-person artistic skating education, offering programs for all skill levels and fostering a vibrant skating community.

The rink maintains its traditional charm while offering modern amenities like online booking, themed skating nights, and plans for expanded community services. Under this collaborative stewardship, El Centro Skate Rink continues its legacy as both a premier skating facility and a vital community gathering place.
