Private Practice Session Etiquette

We are fortunate to have access to the beautiful El Centro Skate Rink for our Artistic Skating programs. We are grateful for their generous support in providing this space to develop skating skills and build our Artistic Skating community.

Please note that practice sessions differ from social skates:

  • Music may be limited or intermittent
  • Coaches may play repeated music clips for routine practice
  • Special etiquette rules apply (see detailed guidelines below)

Eligibility

Private Practice sessions are available to:

  • Monthly paying Artistic Team or All Access Members
  • Current class/lesson students (walk-in rate: $10/session)
  • Authorized visiting skaters (by ArtisticSkating.com Staff invitation only)

Safety and Awareness

During private practice sessions, all skaters must:

  • Maintain awareness of surrounding skaters at all times
  • Watch for skaters preparing for jumps or spins
  • Be alert for sudden direction changes by other skaters
  • Ensure adequate space before attempting jumps or spins
  • Observe proper right-of-way for lesson participants

Lesson Priority

  • Up to two private lessons may occur simultaneously during practice sessions
  • Lesson participants have right-of-way
  • When music changes, it signals a lesson participant practicing their routine
  • All other skaters should remain alert and yield to lesson participants

New Skaters and Children

We enthusiastically welcome children to the sport of Artistic Skating! For safety:

  • Parents of new skaters, especially children, are encouraged to observe a practice session before participating
  • This observation period helps new skaters understand practice flow and common skating patterns
  • Understanding the practice environment helps prevent collisions and creates a safer experience for everyone

Schedule

Private Practice hours vary by season and rink availability. Members should check the schedule weekly at for current days and times.

Note: Private Practice is exclusively available to skaters enrolled in Artistic Skating programs or authorized visitors.
